The Future of the Craftcore YouTube Channel #YouTubePartnerProgram

I started my YouTube channel in November of 2016, posting craft tutorials, craft room tours, and sewing machine reviews.  I’ve loved having a way to show you guys even more sides of my crafty life.  Sometimes it’s easier to show you a tutorial in video format rather than in static images and text. Eligibility Changes for the YouTube Partner Program Like many content creators, I support this blog with advertising.  The advertising helps cover my server costs and costs of supplies.  It does not cover all my costs, but that’s okay.  This is my hobby, not a business (as much as I’d love for Craftcore to be a standalone business one day, I have…

Craftcore Has a New Look! Website Redesign

If you’re like me, as soon as you’re able to open up the windows and let in the fresh spring air, a sudden urge to give the house a deep clean strikes.  Similarly, I’ve been itching to give my humble ‘ol blog a spring makeover.  I don’t think there was anything wrong with the old look, but sometimes I just want to experience something different. Yesterday, I gave Craftcore a fresh redesign that features larger images and an easier-to-browse navigation.   All blog posts from now on will feature larger, higher-quality pictures, meaning that you’ll be able to get up close and personal with all those crafty details.   Additionally, the…

A Year in Review: 30 Crafty Projects Before 30

365 days ago I decided to pick 30 crafty projects to complete before I turned 30. What a year!  30 projects was too aggressive, but I am happy with the projects that I was able to complete.  It’s always great to shoot for the moon – that way if you fail to reach the moon, you’ll still reach the stars. Out of the 30 projects I dreamed about, I completed 12 projects. 40% Completion. My biggest problem was that I kept on making things last year that were not on the list.  I can’t help it!  When the desire to make something hit, the 30-before-30 list inevitably was moved aside to make room.…

Ultrasound Pregnancy Announcement and Gender Reveal

What is the best way to announce to your friends and family that you’re having a baby?  I had a really hard time with the big reveal.  I’m an introverted type when it comes to telling people news about myself in person, so I decided that after telling close family about my pregnancy in person, I would use Facebook to do the announcing at 12 weeks to tell everyone else the good news. Pregnancy Announcement Photography For my reveal, I kept it simple.  I printed out a copy of my 11 week dating digital ultrasound photo on plain computer paper, increasing the contrast prior to printing to make the whites brighter and the blacks darker.  I…

Grow Your Fabric Collection with Yard Sales

I love having fabric on hand to choose from for impromptu projects.  Sometimes inspiration comes at unexpected times so having at least a few prints available in a rainbow of colours makes it easy to jump into a new project quickly without losing that motivated feeling. I originally grew my fabric stash by always buying “a little extra.”  Not only does this grow the stash, but it allows for cutting mistakes in desperate situations. Additionally, I went through a phase of online shopping a few years ago, waiting for the best deals to pick up off-season fabrics on the cheap.  I don’t do this as much now due to budgeting constraints. This…
