If you’ve ever wandered around craft fairs or local boutiques you’ll usually find quirky displays for all types of things. When getting ready to participate in my first craft show I attempted this project as a way to display my earrings. Here is how to make your own earring display out of an old picture frame.

What you’ll need:

  • An old picture frame
  • Garden or screen mesh
  • Fabric strips
  • Hot glue
  • scissors

1. Remove the glass and backing from an old picture frame. You may also want to take out the metal prongs that keep the backing on.

2. Cut your mesh (you can usually find garden or window mesh at your local dollar store in small quantities) to fit the size of the frame. Leave a little excess as sometimes the mesh will warp while glueing.

3. If you have a wooden frame you can staple the mesh to it. The one I am using looks like wood but is in fact plastic ( you can easily order clear perspex sheets and get the same effect). With this frame I will first hot glue the mesh to the inner edge (unfortunately I did not get a picture of this part). Once you’ve initially tacked it down, take your fabric strips and further secure the mesh with hot glue and covering the edge with the fabric. This way you won’t have an ugly glued back.

4. After everything is all glued in place you can flip over your frame and your done! You can also use these as displays for other items as well. While I was preparing my earring displays for a craft show I thought about gluing round metal sheets I had to double as a display for my magnets.

Here is the final product! Try it out for yourself! It’s a very simple and quick project that will help with unorganized and tangled earrings. Great for both craft shows and house decor. I like to display mine on these cute mini easels I found at my local dollar store.
